Scope and Importance of the Department

The Department of economics endeavours to impart specialized knowledge in field of Economics to create a class of skilful, professional intellectuals who teach the students to cope-up with the challenges in the era of globalization. The Department aims to acquaint students with problems of the economy. Department is devoted to enhance the capabilities and capacities of the students by creating opportunities in rural as well as urban segments of the economy. The curriculum is designed to teach, train and prepare the students with scientific knowledge and have analytical aptitude.

About the Department The Economics subject has been started in the year 2000. It is the pioneer department in this region. The department has 48 hours work load with two sanctioned lecturer posts. The department has arranged lectures of outside speakers to enhance the thinking level, built up entrepreneurship and also for informal education.

OBJECTIVES
      To establish the department as a center of excellence in teaching economics
      To develop entrepreneurial skills and qualities among the students.
      To development of an understanding of economic theory, research methodology and their application in economic sub fields.
      To undertake research projects on economic, social, educational and other genuine problems of nation in general weaker section.
      To enhance the knowledge of faculty by more participating in national and international seminars and conferences.
